Two ways to launch

License the platform and run it on your own infrastructure, or let us operate it for you. Both ship the same product to your hikers.

Self-Hosted

License the codebase, deploy on your infrastructure. Best if you have an in-house technical team.

Launch Package — bridge from "deployed" to "actually launched"

An empty app doesn't help anyone. We seed your trail with up to 20 GPX-derived stages, 100 POIs, your photo set, and two languages of professional translation. Most trail orgs underestimate this work — it's roughly 100 hours and the difference between a launched product and a tech demo.

+$3,500add-on for either tier

Skip it if you have a technical team, GPX data ready, and translators on staff. Most don't.

Real questions, real answers

The stuff most platform vendors won't tell you upfront.

Whose Apple Developer account publishes the app?

Self-Hosted: yours — you own the listing, we submit on your behalf. Apple's business verification takes 1–4 weeks for international orgs; start it on day one.
Managed: ours by default, white-labeled. Optional switch to your accounts: +$500.

What does "support" actually cover?

Bug fixes (anything that worked at launch and stops working), config questions, crash investigation. Up to 10 hours/month, 48-hour response on business days, email. Not covered: new features, content edits, translations, restoring data you deleted.

Why is the Launch Package separate?

Because the platform is software; your launched trail is content. Bundling them would mean either we lose money on every customer or we deliver an empty app you can't use. We unbundled so you can opt out — if you have GPX data, photos, and translators in-house, you don't need it.

What infrastructure costs should Self-Hosted customers expect?

Roughly $80–150/month: DigitalOcean droplet (~$24), DO Spaces (~$5), Mapbox (free–$50), email/Sentry (~$20–46), Apple Developer ($8/mo amortized). Payment processing (Stripe) is per-transaction and netted from your revenue. We provide a setup checklist.

What happens at month 7 if I'm Self-Hosted?

The codebase is yours. You maintain it. We can extend support at $400/month (10 hours, same scope) — but most customers either bring it in-house or switch to Managed. No lock-in either way.

Can I switch from Self-Hosted to Managed later?

Yes — common path. Migration fee is $1,500 (we move your data, redeploy on our infra, swap app store accounts if needed). The reverse — Managed to Self-Hosted — is also possible, $2,500 migration, full data + code handover.

Do you sell to multiple trails in the same region?

Yes — but if you're concerned about a direct competitor, ask about the Regional Exclusivity add-on ($4,000/yr) which guarantees we won't sign another trail within a 200km radius for the term of your contract.

What's the contract look like?

One-page Master Services Agreement plus a tier-specific schedule. Liability capped at fees paid in trailing 12 months. Standard GDPR Data Processing Agreement for European trails. Source code escrow available (+$1,500/yr) for Self-Hosted customers who want platform-survival comfort.

What languages can the app run in?

The platform supports any language. Launch tier includes 1 language; +$1,500 per additional language (covers professional translation + in-app QA). Lycian Way runs EN/DE/TR; Via Francigena runs EN/IT.

Do you offer a discount for grassroots trails?

Sometimes. A limited number of pilot slots per year are available at 50% off Self-Hosted, in exchange for a public case study and reference rights. Tell us about your trail — we'll tell you if it qualifies.

Why should we trust you?

The platform is the same code running the Lycian Way (~30,000 hikers/year, live since 2024) and the Via Francigena. Two real production deployments, not a deck. Talk to either team directly — we'll set up the call.

30 minutes, no slides.

Bring your trail's questions. Leave with a yes, no, or a clear answer to "what would it cost for us?"
